The covariant Boltzmann equation for a relativistic gas mixture is used to formulate a theory of relativistic irreversible thermodynamics. The modified moment method is applied to derive various evolution equations for macroscopic variables from the covariant Boltzmann equation. The method rigorously yields the entropy differential which is not an exact differential if

A Relativistic Stochastic Process
We give a review of the relativistic stochastic process denominated with the acronym ROUP, standing for relativistic Ornstein-Ohlenbeck process. This stochastic process was introduced in 1997 by Debbasch, Mallick and Rivet [J. Stat. Phys. 88:945 966 ] as a simpli ed model of irreversibility in a relativistic framework. This allows an investigation of the paradox arising when examining the large...
متن کاملHilbert Expansion from the Boltzmann Equation to Relativistic Fluids
We study the local-in-time hydrodynamic limit of the relativistic Boltzmann equation using a Hilbert expansion. More specifically, we prove the existence of local solutions to the relativistic Boltzmann equation that are nearby the local relativistic Maxwellian constructed from a class of solutions to the relativistic Euler equations that includes a large subclass of near-constant, non-vacuum f...
متن کاملGlobal Existence Proof for Relativistic Boltzmann Equation with Hard Interactions
By combining the DiPerna and Lions techniques for the nonrelativistic Boltzmann equation and the Dudyński and Ekiel-Jeżewska device of the causality of the relativistic Boltzmann equation, it is shown that there exists a global mild solution to the Cauchy problem for the relativistic Boltzmann equation with the assumptions of the relativistic scattering cross section including some relativistic...
متن کاملGlobal Solutions to the Ultra-Relativistic Euler Equations
We show that when entropy variations are included and special relativity is imposed, the thermodynamics of a perfect fluid leads to two distinct families of equations of state whose relativistic compressible Euler equations are of Nishida type. (In the non-relativistic case there is only one.) The first corresponds exactly to the StefanBoltzmann radiation law, and the other, emerges most natura...
متن کاملRelativistic Stellar Models with Quadratic Equation of State
In this paper, we have obtained and presented new relativistic stellar configurations considering an anisotropic fluid distribution with a charge distribution and a gravitational potential Z(x) that depends on an adjustable parameter. The quadratic equation of state based on Feroze and Siddiqui viewpoint is used for the matter distribution. The new solutions can be written in terms of elementar...
